Our Learning Story- in progress

Ecole Dorothea Walker is a dual track French Immersion Elementary school with students from Kindergarten to Grade Six.  As educators, we strive to model the collaborative culture and growth mindset we hope to instill in our students . We are committed to building a community of learners across grade levels and across language streams. Our "Family Groups" promote social learning and build relationships between students. We value our parent community who have supported a passion for connecting our students with learning in alternate environments by building our Outdoor Learning Center and helping teachers access nearby Woodhaven, a natural space used by students at all grade levels.

We have focussed on social emotional learning extensively over the past two years, helping students develop self-regulation skills in order to increase academic success and enhance emotional health. For the coming school year we will continue to build these skills while placing an emphasis on the development of the Core Competencies identified in B.C.'s redesigned curriculum, as well as focussing on the curricular area of Numeracy.
It is our intention to support our students' educational journey as they become learners, thinkers, collaborators and contributors.
